Things to do to Attract Money to Yourself & Multiply it

Updated: Jan 4, 2025

Life responds to principles. If you apply the principles relating to money, you’ll keep having more. But if you don’t, what you have will go just like that. Also note that following the principles for wealth creation & retention is a continuous process; such that if you follow it for 5 years and stop following it later on, your money will finish and you’d be back to square zero. I’d share my personal experiences as we go along.

The principles are as follows

1. Have a skill: you should have a skill you can use to create a product or offer a service to someone. If you have a skill you don’t like using, then use your passion or what you enjoy doing that you can even do for free. Learn how to monetize your skills. That's a channel through which money will come to you.

2. Work: you must work. It’s not enough to have a skill, you must be diligent and get to work. Don’t be lazy or slack towards your work/business.

3. Increase your knowledge: gather knowledge about money. Read books on finances, attend webinars, go on YouTube and learn how money works. It will help you manage & increase your money, provided you practise what you learn. I am always ready to know what options are there to multiply my money, so I read books on this subject and attend webinars. Also gain knowledge about the investment options that are available to you and weigh your options well before following a financial instrument.

4. Improve your skill & knowledge: look for ways to get better & current with new developments in your field & with your skill. Be good at what you do. The more you fine tune your knowledge & skill, the higher your earning potential.

5. Spend less than you earn: this is self explanatory. A budget will help you achieve this. Manage your money well. Don’t be reckless in your spending. Put a mental knife to your appetites if that’s what will help you achieve your financial goals. Recently, I had to downsize to be able to spend less than I earn. So I moved from a studio flat to a shared accommodation to build up my savings. I've also cut down on how I spend on unnecessary things that I used to think were necessary. You might want to review everything you spend on and see what needs to be cut off, especially things that are wants not needs. Prioritize your needs over wants. For instance, if you have 3 white shirts and you want to buy another one, that extra one is a want not a need, because you already have white shirts you can wear; except the ones you have are no longer your size or worn out.

6. Willingness & enthusiasm: your enthusiasm about your business/work will attract people to pay you for it, because it will show up in how you talk about what you do. This is what will convince people to do business with you. Also have a willing attitude to work when something comes up. Don’t do the work grudgingly. If it’s grudging because of the price you charged, be content knowing that at least when next you get similar jobs, you’d charge what your work is worth.

7. Market yourself: Asides from being willing to work, you need to showcase what you know and the results you can help people gain by putting yourself out there. Putting yourself out there entails going to places and events where you'll meet quality people, having an active social media account that is tailored to what you do, and always showing up with the value you can give. Like Steve Harris said, 'money doesn't always follow the business or brand that offers value, it follows the business that is loudest about the value it offers'.

8. Serve: Whenever you have the opportunity to, ensure you're serving people with your skills and abilities. This might involve rendering unpaid services to people or volunteering under someone. Volunteering or serving will open doors for you that you may not have otherwise gotten. I have gotten money from people free of charge just because I've been serving them my value. If you're really good with what you do in the place of service, you'll get noticed and people will tell others who can pay you to hire you.

9. See yourself as a rich person: fill your mind with thoughts of you being wealthy. The truth is we’re rich internally. Everything we need to create wealth has been bestowed by God on the inside of us. But we need to come to that awareness. It is that awareness that produces your “identity” of being rich. NOT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. So regardless of what your bank account is saying, know that YOU’RE RICH. Your identity will eventually reflect in your external circumstances. It will begin to make you reason & act like rich people do.

Now you maybe asking what do rich people do?

1. Rich people live on a budget: before you spend your money, create a plan and live based on that plan. This would help you not spend more than you earn. It will also help you create a secure financial future for yourself & children (if you have kids). If you don’t live on a budget or you think budget is not for you because you earn small, you’re thinking & behaving like a poor person.

2. Rich people don’t spend all they earn: poor people spend all they earn but rich people live on a budget and keep money aside in a savings/investment pot for future opportunities. Take your investment serious if you’re reading this please!!!

3. Rich people have an abundant mindset: they understand that there’s enough to go round. There’re enough clients to reach your end. So if someone doesn’t buy your products or they say the famous “I’ll get back to you later” but never get back, you won’t get worried about it because you know another customer will come. Rich people are also not competitive, but gracious & collaborative.

4. Rich people give: it is a universal principle that when you give you'd receive. You need to give to attract more to you. Personally I have benefited from giving. I have received countless gifts this year which I strongly believe is a harvest of the givings I did in the past. You can take it a step further by giving out what you want to receive. For example, if you wanted to receive a car, then give a car out. It doesn't necessarily need to be like this, but I have heard people like Pastor Mildred Okonkwo say that they sowed dollars and got back dollars in greater amounts. The core is giving. Just make sure you're generous.

5. Rich people rely on various streams of income: Don’t rely on one stream. Ask people questions, look for other things you can do that will bring you more money. Examples of various streams of income include: a business run by you or your employees, investments, farms, an office job, books, funds from public speaking or your skills, side gigs, crypto, etc
