Life lessons from my plant (Lesson 1- You're not alone)

Updated: Feb 22, 2024

So when I bought one of my plants, it had radiant yellow flowers and thick green leaves. But after 1 year of staying with me, the leaves became 🥀thin.

I felt I wasn’t doing something right. I researched on what to do to make it come back to being thick green and flowery. But all I did failed. In it’s own time, this plant started blooming again🌷.

Then recently the leaves curled upwards. I had read somewhere that this upward movement meant it’s tryna stretch for sunlight. So, I started keeping it outside my window cos we’re now in Spring/summer🤩. But guess what?

.

.

It’s still stretchy😫. However, there’s a little twist to the story👇🏽.

I have an app called PictureThis, that diagnoses whether your plant is fine or not. So, I upload my plant there, only to see many other plants like mine🤩💃🏽, stretchy, bushy & beautiful. On seeing this, I start to smile😁, thinking “so there’s nothing actually wrong with my plant”.

You see, this is how many think there’s something wrong with their lives because it doesn’t look like the “perfect picture” that TV, magazines & social media portray. Some of what you see in the media has been edited to look perfect, some have worked on themselves & exposed themselves to certain rudiments to look the way they do.

Should you now compare yourself to them? I think not. Especially if you’ve not gone through the same process they went through.

It will help you to know that you’re not alone. There’re people like you, going through the same issues & born in the same circumstances. Don’t overkill yourself trying to be like the perfect picture. Just be at peace with yourself.
