The ups & downs of your faith

When you see patriarchs and matriarchs in the christian faith, I bet you think they are perfect in their walk with God. I wouldn't blame you because I myself sometimes think they always do what God wants.
But I've come to realise that no one is perfect in terms of never flouting God's will. I read about Kathryn Kulhman and saw that there were somethings she did that wasn't God's will for her, yet she was a minister used mightily by God.

Recently I received a word form the Lord and I was wondering 'but where and when did I do wrong'. Because all along I didn't know I had done somethings He didn't like.
When you read through scripture, you'd realize that many men & women in the bible had their flaws too. For instance, although Moses knew God's ways, because he was angry, he amended God's instruction to speak to the rock. So instead of speaking to the rock, he struck the rock twice and that led to him not entering the fullness of God's intended future plan for him.
How about Father Abraham? He knew God. He had a relationship with God. But when he had waited too long for God's promise to give him a child through his wife, he decided to sleep with his housekeeper; maybe at least a child would come from her. Even if he was persuaded by his wife to sleep with the housekeeper, agreeing to her suggestion was a sign of doubt that God will eventually come through.
Examine the life of King David, Peter the apostle, and other believers in the bible who at some point or the other behaved liked they didn't know God.
This brings me to my point for this post today:
As you walk with God, you'd occasionally have moments where you doubt God's word to you, feel like life is treating you unfair and this may cause you to question God's presence with you. Sometimes you might not feel prayed up. You might feel disconnected with God.
But I want you to know that you're not alone. There're many other believers having the same experience.
However, asides from knowing you're not alone, surround yourself with a community of believers that will encourage you to maintain your connection with God & strengthen your faith.
Having a community of believers really helped my faith and my prayer life. There's so much I've learnt and now know because I asked questions about things I didn't understand. Most importantly, I was vulnerable with the people that could help me. I told them 'I haven't been praying as I ought, please keep me in your prayers'.
So I definitely recommend having a group of believers you can share things like this with.
Also note that attaining perfection in your walk with God is not something you can do by your human strength or abilities. You'd have to rely on God the Holy Spirit to help you be perfect i.e. walk according to God's will for your life every time.
If this blog post ignited something in you, do well to share with someone in your circle.
Much love.
