I’ll be having my first onsite speaking engagement to Nigerian students in Swansea next month, so I just thought to share certain things you might want to know about living in the UK.

📌Be prepared to work. The UK isn’t a place where you can get away with being idle except you own 7 fuel stations in Nigeria that are providing for your rent, energy bills, & tax😀.
📌If you’re married, don’t come with your spouse on first arrival to UK. This is because getting accommodation in the UK is no joke.

You need to come here & settle in first, before you start thinking of bringing your spouse & kids.
📌Have an open mind. Keep your options open as to your career aspirations & lifestyle. For instance, it was when I came to the UK, I started eating mushrooms & fresh tomato. I came here & learnt that people can have tattoos & still love God.
📌It’s not easy to find a partner in the abroad🤣 (hard to take in but true). Anyways, with the recent hike in Japá, your chances of getting married to someone you met in the UK is high. But the gist of the matter is, hold that one wey you get for Naija.
📌Living in the UK can be lonely & solemn. We’re communal people in Nigeria, we love to vibe & spend festive seasons with family. But in the UK, it is “to your tenth o Israel”. Nobody send
you. You can be neighbours with someone & the only time you’ll see them is 2 times in a year. So, it’s important for you to join a community of likeminded people. This is one way to avoid depression in the UK. Some communities include: The church, Nigerian societies, sports club & any other group that might be of interest to you.
